Main panel upgrades. Power for what's next.

Replace aging equipment. Address electrical safety concerns. Plan the capacity your home and EV need – with Clear Solar Solutions / CSS Electric.

Your home has changed. Your panel may not have.

An older 100-amp service may have limited room for today’s electrical loads. Aging equipment can also have safety issues that deserve attention before another circuit is added.

01 / AGING EQUIPMENT

Zinsco & Zinsco-Sylvania

Independent testing has documented failure-to-trip concerns in sampled Zinsco breakers. A panel that still delivers power may not provide dependable protection when a fault occurs.

Let’s evaluate a replacement plan before adding high-demand loads.

02 / PANEL CONDITION

Bryant & other older panels

We check the equipment’s condition, signs of heat damage, breaker compatibility and available capacity. The recommendation comes from the actual panel and your electrical needs.

Corrosion, damaged connections or improper breakers need attention.

03 / SERVICE CAPACITY

100-amp service. More to power.

An EV charger can be a substantial new load. We evaluate your existing demand and planned charging level to determine whether a service upgrade is the right fit.

Open breaker spaces alone do not establish available capacity.

Safety and capacity both matter.

A load calculation does not rule out damaged equipment. And an older brand name, by itself, does not establish the condition of an individual panel.

EV PLANS START AT THE SERVICE PANEL

A new EV.
A better power plan.

Before you add the charger, know what your home can support.

We review the panel, service equipment, existing loads and intended charger. When more capacity is needed, we scope the upgrade around the entire service – not just the size of the new panel.

The right size is determined by your home’s load calculation and utility requirements.

Does every EV require a panel upgrade?

No. Some sound 100-amp services can support EV charging through an appropriate charging level or approved load management. We explain those options when they fit. Load management does not repair a damaged panel.

From the first look to the final connection.

We build the scope around your property, coordinate the required approvals and plan the electrical shutdown with you.

01

Assess your service

Review the panel, meter, service routing and planned loads. Identify condition concerns and the capacity your home needs.

02

Define the upgrade

Provide a project-specific proposal covering equipment, electrical work, permits and any required service changes.

03

Coordinate & install

Work through utility requirements and local permits. Schedule the shutdown and complete the agreed panel and service work.

04

Inspect & reconnect

Coordinate inspection and utility reconnection, verify the completed work and provide clear circuit identification.

Panel / meter-main replacement

Grounding & bonding review

Service capacity planning

Equipment location, overhead or underground service, utility work and wall repairs are addressed in your proposal. Scope and timing vary by property.

KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS

Signs that need attention.

Electrical defects can create fire and shock hazards. These signs call for prompt professional attention.

01
Burning odors or visible heat damage
02
Crackling, sizzling or unusual buzzing
03
Repeated breaker trips or flickering power
04
Corrosion, water intrusion or damaged equipment

Smoke, fire or active sparking? Stay clear and call 911.

Do not touch the panel or remove its covers.

Panel upgrades. Made clearer.

Are all older Bryant panels unsafe?

No. Bryant branding alone is not a diagnosis. Some legacy Bryant equipment has manufacturer-supported replacement breakers. The exact panel, its condition, correct breaker compatibility and your load requirements determine the recommendation.

Yes. We can identify the equipment, assess visible condition and scope a replacement. A visual inspection or a breaker that switches on and off cannot establish reliable overload protection. Continued power delivery is not proof that a breaker will trip properly.

No. A panel’s bus rating and the approved service capacity are different. For example, a 225-amp-rated panel can be used with a 200-amp main breaker and 200-amp service. The complete equipment and service design determines the permitted capacity.

Main service panel work typically involves local permitting and inspection, plus utility coordination for disconnection, reconnection or service changes. We coordinate the applicable process with PG&E or your local electric utility. Utility approvals and inspection schedules affect timing.

The quote depends on the equipment, location, service routing, utility requirements and any necessary wall or trench work. We explain the anticipated outage window before scheduling. Overall project lead time and the installation-day shutdown are separate; a completion date is confirmed around the required approvals and reconnection plan.
